CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

“Challenging Young Leaders Hearts and Minds”

CML provides an academically challenging curriculum with a magnet focus in foreign languages/international studies.  We also teach the critical leadership and life skills of empathy and emotional intelligence.  The faculty works to instill a feeling of self-worth and self-confidence in each student while also requiring that he or she recognize the needs of others through service learning and character development.

The school's international focus extends way beyond the classroom as teachers are beginning to use the ePals Global Classroom program to create real world, culturally- enriching learning experiences for their students. With ePals classrooms studying French can connect with a class studying English in France.  Students can also collaborate on a special project with their peers of similar age from around the world.

CML utilizes the M-DCPS Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in all subject areas through the Pacing Guides.  That being said, our teachers compact the curriculum to meet the needs of our academically motivated young scholars.  Currently, core classes are aligned to Florida’s NGSSS and are transitioning towards the Common Core and Florida’s State Standards.
